May Scholarship Deadlines
State University System of Florida - Theodore R. & Vivian M Johnson Scholarship Foundation, Inc. - Applicants must be graduating high school seniors with a disability who will attend one of the eleven (11) State universities in Florida, and have financial need. Tax forms, transcripts, FAFSA, other documentation needed. Awards from $1,000 to $10,000 per year. FAFSA must be completed by April 15, 2009. Application deadline is May 15, 2009. Reach for the Gold Book Scholarship - The Reach for the Gold Book Scholarships targets two female college-bound minority high school seniors. Each book scholarship is an award of $500 and is applied to the high costs of college textbooks in the first year of college. Academic Scholarship Criteria minimum GPA 3.7, and Benevolence Scholarship Criteria minimum GPA 2.7. Deadline May 2009.
The Tylenol Scholarship - Awards for students who are pursuing careers in healthcare. Selections will be made based on leadership quality and academic performance. American Institute of Chemical Engineers - See application form for complete application criteria -- 1. Applicants must be members of a minority group (i.e. African-American, Hispanic, Native American, or Alaskan Native) that is underrepresented in chemical engineering. 2. Applicants must be high school graduates during the 2008-2009 academic year and plan to enroll during the 2009-2010 academic year in a four-year university offering a science/engineering degree. Applicants are encouraged to choose classes leading to a degree in science or engineering. 3. The selection of winners will be based on the applicant's academic record, participation in school and work activities, reason for choosing science or engineering, and financial need. National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) -
Essay contest - 11th and 12th graders are invited to enter a college-planning-related essay contest. Submit essay of 500 - 1500 words "describing a teacher, counselor or experience that has
influenced your decision to go to college. How has this individual or experience impacted your future? How will you make a difference in your community once you complete college?"
Applications in Career Lab. Essays must be received by May 23, 2009, 4:30 pm EST.
Rihani Scholarship - For Lebanese or Arab descent students who will be entering college as a freshman in the Fall of 2009. Demonstrated leadership abilities through community service, 3.2 GPA or above. Deadline 5/31 of each year.
