Scholarships DUE in December

KFC - Colonel's Scholars - Apply online between December 1st and February 10, 2009.  Graduating, College Bound Seniors with GPA of 2.75 or higher, who plan to pursue a Bachelor's degree, US Citizen or Permanent Resident.  Award is up to $5,000 Per Year and is renewable!  Must also complete FAFSA.  Deadline is February 10, 2009 for entire application to be completed and submitted online. 

 

Gates Millennium Scholarship - Must be minority, GPA 3.3 or above, financial need, high school seniors only. 2010-2011 FAFSA MUST be filed by 2/1/10. Students and parents must complete 2009 tax return in order to file FAFSA. This is a highly competitive process, and students are urged to submit their nomination packets as soon as possible to ensure that their packets are complete and meet all requirements. See website for nomination forms, and other information.  DEADLINE for online applications is 1/11/10 - 11:59 pm. See Mrs. Roberts in Career Lab for assistance.  This is a very large application - DO NOT WAIT until the last minute.  You will need a Nominator AND a Recommender to do the application WITH you!  Ask your teachers NOW! 

 

The National High School Oratorical Contest - Deadline January 1 of each year. There is no application required to enter.  Contact your local American Legion Post for entry. Eligible participants in The American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest shall be citizens of or lawful permanent residents of the United States. Participants speak on prepared oration and assigned topic. Local, State and National levels of winners.  See specific details at link. Open to 9th - 12th Grades!

 

Toyota Community Scholars Program - High schools nationwide are asked to nominate one student for the Toyota Community Scholars program. The school's nominee should have a consistent record of academic excellence, be active in school programs, and be recognized as a leader by his/her peers and instructors. In addition, the nominee must have initiated or be actively involved in a service program that addresses a school or community need.  Students who are interested should discuss their community service in a short essay and attach to academic resume and submit to Mrs. Roberts by deadline date. Scholarship committee will then decide on the ONE candidate.  Only one nominee will be accepted from a school. Deadline to Mrs. Roberts is January 2, 2010. 

 

Humanist Essay Contest - This essay contest has been discontinued, but they have placed links on this site to direct you to other similar essay contests.

 

2009 SAE Engineering Scholarships  (Six offered) for any type of engineering field (computer, chemical, electrical, etc) or related science (math, chemistry, physics, biology, technologies, computer sciences). GPA 3.75 and must score in the 90th percentile of SAT I and/or ACT test. See each scholarship requirements before applying. Seniors only - Deadline December 1, 2009  

 

AIA/AAF Minority/Disadvantaged Scholarship Nomination  Seniors interested in Architecture.  The application process has two parts: an initial nomination by either a high school guidance counselor, AIA component, architect, or other individual who is aware of the student's interest and aptitude for architecture, and an application which is sent to eligible students after nominations are reviewed. The nomination form is due in early December and the application, an essay, statement of disadvantaged circumstances, letters of recommendations, transcripts and a drawing are due in mid-January. National High School Recipe Contest -  For Seniors who love to cook and are planning to attend Johnson and Wales University. Submit recipes in one of these two categories: Healthful Family Dinner or Healthful Dessert and compete for these renewable tuition prizes. Grand Prizes - full tuition, First prizes - $7500 tuition, Second prizes - $5,000 tuition, Other finalists -$3500 tuition.  Deadline 12/5/09.  Start creating NOW and enter and win these renewable.

Henry Morrison Flagler Scholarship Florida Atlantic University at Jupiter: Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College.  $55,000 over four years, awarded to five incoming freshman.  Nomination required - see Mrs. Roberts.  Deadline December 15th.

 

AXA Achievement Scholarship Awards - Deadline 12/12/09   Seniors only, letters of recommendation, and must demonstrate the following:
(NOTE - there are TWO AXA scholarships - the other is due in February. DO BOTH if you qualify.)

  • Respect for self, family and community
  • Ability to succeed in college

CareerFitter.com - Awards given quarterly.  Career Test and Short essay required on "What is the perfect career for you and why?" Scholarships to qualified students who are enrolled or planning to participate in a college, university or graduate school program during the spring/summer/fall 2009 term. Students who apply must be a United States citizen or permanent resident with a minimum 2.5 Grade Point Average.  Deadline 9/15/09  for January giveaway.

 

Ronald McDonald House Scholarship - Current 10th graders eligible for free/reduced lunch, Minimum 2.8 GPA in math, science, social studies and science, No behavior referrals, good attendance, Ability to pass 10th grade FCAT, complete Algebra II with a C or better and graduate with a standard diploma. Deadline is December 15.

 

EasyAid.com Scholarship - 2009 Frank O' Neill Memorial Scholarship. Educational goals and need-based essay contest.  Eligible students may NOT have already been receiving or awarded a full-tuition scholarship or waiver from another source.  Quarterly awards. This quarter deadline is December 31, 2009

All-Ink.com - $10,000 Scholarships offered to students who will be entering college or technical school in Fall 2010  GPA 2.5, US citizen, short essay required.  Deadline December 31, 2009.

 

The Anne and Allegra Ford Scholarship  Applicant must have 3.0 GPA or above, financial need, show documentation of an identified learning disability, US Citizen, a high school Senior planning on pursuing an undergraduate degree.  Postmarked December 31, 2009. Southern Scholarship Foundation - Room and board at selected colleges. See application for details. Deadline for Fall term is 3/1/10. Apply EARLY!  Apply NOW!

 

Polk Education Foundation - Partially completed applications NOT be considered.  Once you have selected scholarships and written essays, you must finalize your application.  TWO copies of application must be printed out.  One goes to the Career Lab to be sent to the Foundation with your photograph, essays, etc.  Dozens of local scholarships are available.  Come to the Career Lab to apply if you don't have a computer at home.  Applications MUST be returned to Career Lab for final submissions to District. Deadline TBA - depends on when the application becomes available.  Keep checking this link for application.
