2010 AHEC Health Career Camp - Sophomores and Juniors only
June 13th through June 16th at Rollins College. Sponsored by Central Florida Area Health Education Center. This FREE OF CHARGE program exposes students to all phases of the occupations in Health/Medical fields. Applications in Career Lab office. Deadline for submission is April 23rd. Hurry!
Florida Women's State Golf Association (FWSGA) Scholarship - The Sarah E. Huneycutt Scholarship- Award is $5,000 per year for 4 years ($20,000 total) to a graduating Senior female, Florida resident accepted to a Florida college/university, GPA 3.0 or higher, financial need, and demonstrated interest in golf, but not eligible for a golf scholarship. Applications in Career Lab or you can follow link under "Juniors." Deadline to Tampa organization is April 1st of each year.
Central Florida Mensa Scholarship - Must be in the top 2% percentile of standard IQ test. Polk County Gifted Program Students - See Mrs. Roberts for your applications. Seniors only, essay required, transcript, 2 letters of recommendation. Mrs. Roberts has your proof of eligibility.
Bright House Volunteer Youth Service Awards - Students in grades 9 - 12 no older than 18 years of age at the time of the volunteer project may apply. MUST have minimum GPA of 2.5. Volunteer project must be between September and April of the current school year and consist of a minimum of 50 volunteer hours. MUST include application, transcripts, 500 - word essay, letter of recommendation, and letter of verification of project. Bright House must receive your submission by April 30, 2010.
University of Central Florida - EXCEL Program in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. If you have been accepted to UCF, see Mrs. Roberts for information on this program. This program is for Summer and Fall 2010 Freshmen who will be majoring in certain fields. They will only accept 200 students to this program, so APPLY TODAY.
Executive Women's Golf Association - Female Athletic Scholarship - Seniors only. Minimum 2.5 GPA, lettered golfer or other sport, active participant in community activities, short essay required on "'yourself and your plans for achievement in the next two years." Applications in Career Lab. Deadline April 1, 2010
The Jackie Robinson Foundation - for minority students, SAT 900 or above/ACT 21 or above, leadership potential,
financial need, enrolling in college in the Fall 2009. Apply Online ONLY. Deadline April 1, 2009.
Josh Giles Foundation Scholarship - Must be high school senior who will be attending college/technical school in the Fall of 2009.
Entry form, letter of recommendation, personal essay. Applications in Career Lab. Deadline is April 30, 2010
Delta Kappa Gamma Society - Lambda Chapter - will provide $1,000 to a Polk County high school SENIOR girl who has demonstrated high academic promise and achievement and who plans to enter the field of education. Required: application, three letters of recommendation, giving info on your academics, character, family background and economic status, transcript, recent photograph, separate essay. Deadline for completed applications is April 5th to Mrs. Roberts.
First Christian Church Scholarship - for Future Teachers and Medical Professionals - $1000 awarded to HCHS student accepted to a Florida college/university, two letters of recommendation, personal essay, photograph. No religious affiliation is necessary. Applications in Career Lab.
The Frank Snydle, MD, Memorial Fund Scholarship - $1000 to a student who will pursue a health-/medical- related program or occupation. GPA 2.5 financial information, three letters of recommendation, personal essay. Personal interview MAY be requested. Applications in Career Lab. Deadline April 9th.
2009 National High School Essay Contest - Open to high school students of any age. Must write essay on the following subject: "Analyze and explain what you think will be the Challenges Facing the American Foreign Service in the 21 st Century." Very specific rules apply to submission. Read rules at link. Deadline April 15, 2009
Kiwanis Club of Greater Haines City - Applications for Key Club members only - $1000 to Polk Community College (with possibility of renewal the second year) Seniors only, GPA 2.5 or higher, financial need, good attendance record, two letters of recommendation, essay, any area of study. Deadline back to Career Lab is April 15, 2009.
Seminole Club of Polk County - Graduating Senior with a minimum of 3.3 GPA, SAT 1000 or ACT 22, Academic excellence, letter of acceptance from FSU and HS transcript required. Winners will be invited to the Jimbo Fisher dinner on May 21, 2010. Final deadline to Mrs. Roberts is 5/7/10for hand delivery by 5/12/10.
The Sallie Mae Fund First in My Family Scholarship Program - Must be the first person in your family to attend college. Must be a U.S. citizen of Hispanic background. Scholarship is merit and need based. Minimum GPA 3.0. Applications will be taken from January 2009 until deadline of April 15, 2009
Hispanic College Fund - has multiple scholarships for Hispanic students, 3.0 GPA or higher, US Citizen, reside and attend college full time, pursuing a career in business, science or engineering. Flyers in Career Lab with web address. Deadline is April 15, 2009
Holocaust Remembrance Project - 1200 word essay required. Trip to Washington, DC and scholarship monies to be awarded to winners. 2009 Writing prompt is at this link. Deadline 4/15/09.
Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, Inc. - Applicants must be son/daughter of U.S. Marine meeting certain requirements or the grandchild of a U.S. Marine who served in certain division or squadrons. Must also be graduating high school senior. Family adjusted gross income must be less than $61,000. FAFSA form required, certificate of service for qualifying parent or grandparent, transcripts, essay, photograph. Applications will be taken at this link between January 2009 and deadline of April 15, 2009
The American Legion American Legacy Scholarship - Child/children or legally adopted child/children or a child of a spouse by a prior marriage or dependent child as defined by the United States Armed Services for active duty personnel of the United States military and National Guard, and military reservists who were federalized and die on active duty on or after September 11, 2001. Must be a high school senior or high school graduate to apply for the scholarship. Deadline April 15, 2009
AMVETS - for high school seniors in JROTC and dependents of veterans. Minimum 3.0 GPA, JROTC member, child or grandchild of veteran, U.S. Citizen, must show academic promise and financial need, must provide veteran DD-214, current tax returns, college acceptance and costs, SAT/ACT scores, letter from student commander. Deadline is April 15th of each year.
AMVETS - for high school seniors and dependents of veterans. Same requirements as above. Deadlines for both is April 15th of each year.
Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) - Must have history of consistent public service-oriented activities, accepted into an accredited community college, four-year university. Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students, demonstrated financial need, good writing skills, U.S. citizenship or legal permanent resident. No minimum GPA required. Deadline April 15, 2009
Anne Massey General Scholarship - $500.00 scholarship to a high school senior who will enroll in Fall 2009 full-time, show financial need, and have a GPA 3.0 or higher. Must submit acceptance letter from college, transcript, two letters of reference, social security number and one page essay. Applications available between January and deadline of April 15th of each year. Applications in Career Lab.
Jewett Education Foundation Scholarship - Several Awards to graduating seniors. Parent or Grandparent MUST have attended a Jewett school in Winter Haven. See Mrs. Roberts for applications if you qualify. Deadline is 4/18/09.
William E Gregory Scholarship - for graduating seniors enrolling in college pursuing these majors: Marketing, Advertising, Communication or Graphic Design. 3.0 GPA or higher, transcript, essay required. Recent project required for submission. Final deadline is April 16, 2009.
Haines City Rotary Club Scholarship - $1250.00 awarded to graduating Senior with a minimum GPA of 3.3 (unweighted). Interview required. See Mrs. Roberts in Career Lab for applications. Final deadline is April 17, 2009.
Haines City Inner Wheel Scholarship - Graduating Senior who will Major in Education or Nursing. Minimum GPA of 2.75. Essay required. See Mrs. Roberts for application. Final Deadline is April 21, 2009.
UPsilon XI Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity - $1,000 awarded to a minority male, college bound, graduating senior who has academic and community excellence. Also required: 2.7 GPA or higher, college acceptance letter, essay, senior photo, transcripts. Deadline to Mrs. Roberts is April 24, 2009.

Theodore R. & Vivian M Johnson Scholarship Foundation, Inc. - Applicants must be graduating high school seniors, the child of an UPS employee or retiree living in Florida, have financial need, planning to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year college or vocational program. Tax forms, transcripts, FAFSA, other documentation needed. Awards from $1,000 to $10,000 per year. Deadline April 15, 2009.

El Nuevo Constructor Scholarship Program - Must be pursuing a bachelor's or associate degree in a construction related field; Must plan to enroll as a full-time undergraduate student (registered for at least 12 credits per semester) from the fall 2009 to the spring 2010, GPA higher than 3.0. Must be a U.S. citizen of Hispanic background. National Restaurant Assoc. Educational Foundation - 2.75 GPA or higher. Must have worked in the food service business for over 250 hours, want to pursue a career in the field of food service, have been accepted to an food-service related program in an accredited post-secondary school.
